What is HCG?
HCG (Human Chorionic Gonadotropin) is a naturally occurring glycoprotein hormone produced during pregnancy. It mimics luteinizing hormone (LH) by binding to LH receptors, stimulating gonadal steroidogenesis.
In males, HCG stimulates Leydig cells in the testes to promote testosterone production. In females, it supports ovulation and corpus luteum function. Due to its LH-like activity, HCG is widely studied in reproductive endocrinology and hormonal regulation research.
